Rwanda, Tanzania delegates to meet in Kigali for business talks

Rwanda and Tanzania are organizing the first business meeting by delegates from both countries to be held in Kigali on 6th April 2016 organized by the government of Rwanda and Tanzanian embassy to discuss improvement of bilateral relations and trade between the two countries.

Then cooperation between Rwanda and Tanzania has been strengthened since President John Pombe Magufuli took power. Last week during the 13th leadership retreat, Presiden t Paul Kagame said he is going work like Magufuli, cutting expenses resulting from leaders who are always on unnecessary foreign visits.

President Magufuli has also recently wondered why citizens of the region are worried of thieves of public funds which does not happen in Rwanda.

The meeting will be a good opportunity to maintain a good relationship between the two countries and seeking ways of how to improve commerce.

It will study on how Tanzania can increase exports to Rwanda from 5.5% to 15% and easing commerce among trading companies between the two countries.

Rwanda makes some of her imports through the Tanzanian port of Dar es Salaam. In the past during the leadership of Jakaya Kikwete, business people would lament of complexities including high taxes and delay of goods in transit route of Dar-Rusumo. This meeting is expected to address this issue.

Tanzania and Rwanda have trade agreements signed in 2008 to promote business between the two governments. It is said that more cooperation agreements between private investors from Rwanda and Tanzania are getting prepared as well.

Then cooperation between Rwanda and Tanzania has been strengthened since President John Pombe Magufuli took power.
