In a one day extraordinary session whose sitting convened in the Senate plenary hall, the Senate approved different state high ranking officials on this 13th August 2015.
The sitting presided over by Bernard Makuza, had first to approve the relevance of the session, and proceeded by examining and approving the Presidential orders authorizing the nominations.
Nominated officials are one ambassador, two Directors General of two different boards namely Rwanda Agriculture Board and Rwanda Social Security Board and non-permanent commissioners in the Law Reform Commission :
Dr. Habyarimana Jean Baptiste who assumed different polical positions was approved as Rwandan ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Dr Louis Butare as chief executive officer of Rwanda Agriculture Board(RAB), and Jonathan Gatera as the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Social Security Board.
Among condidates nominated to the positions of non-permenant Commissioners in the National Law Reform Commission we can mention: Ms Consolate Bigirimana (replacing Athanase Rutabingwa ); Mr Julien Kavaruganda; Dr.Usta Kaitesi; Ms Odette Yankulije; Dr. Stanislas Kabarira
Their approval followed a report presented by the chairperson of the Committee on Political affairs and Good Governance at the Senate, Honorable Apollinaire Mushinzimana.
According to this report all the candidates meet the requirements needed to assume their leadership position in their various institutions.
Apart from that, the Committee chaired by Senator Apollinaire Mushinzimana had previously met with those candidates and held debates on their skills and competences and as he said express confidence in their future responsibilities and pledged to serve with no reserve.
