{{Rwanda’s new envoy to the United States Mukantabana Mathilde has been urged to drop her US citizenship and adopt the Rwandan citizenship in order to represent Rwanda in the USA.
However, Mukantabana holds duo nationality including Rwandan and U.S. naitonalities.}}
While appearing before the senate committee on governance, Mukantabana was requested to drop her US citizenship and return to the US as a Rwandan to start has duties as Rwanda’s Envoy to the United States.
She told the senate Committee that she had already notified the US government about her intention to denounce her US citizenship.
Mukantabana also added that she was only remaining with handing over her US passport to the US embasssy in Kigali.
The 25 member senate committee endorsed Mukantabana after she sucessfully conviced them that she was able and capable of representing Rwandas interests in the United States.
