The director general for Science, Technology and Research in the Ministry of Education, Marie Christine Gasingirwa revealed that Rwanda’s Economic Growth will depend on active science, technology and innovation policies.
Gasingirwa was Wednesday speaking at the sideline of the first ever international scientific conference on “Bio-Innovate” held in Addis Ababa.
Dr. Gasingirwa stressed that although Rwanda’s economy experienced remarkable growth over the past years, the current national budget allocation to Research and Development program which is estimated to be 0.4% of the whole national Growth Domestic Product (GDP) is relatively low.
It is said that among other key objectives of the Science and Technology innovations policies in Rwanda is to stimulate a steady growth in GDP while contributing to advance the quality of life for all the population though mainstreaming skills and Knowledge among the labor forces.
