Rwanda’s development amazed repatriated refugees

Eighty Rwandan refugees repatriated from the forests of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) of whom the majority includes women and children argue that the country’s tremendous development is beyond their past perceptions.

They disclosed these feelings on 27th October, 2015 during the official welcoming remark held in the provisional refugee camp of Nkamira.The event was presided by the Minister of Disaster Management and Refugees Affairs, Seraphine Mukantabana, who handed medical insurance to repatriated refugees.

Umutoni Jeannette having fled the country at the age of five years is pleased with kind hearts of Rwandans additional to development the country attained.
“The country has been brighter compared to the situation we left. I have seen constructed roads and modern buildings, a sign of remarkable development of infrastructures.”She said.

According to Umutoni and her fellows, they have experienced hard life in refuge. They faced constant wars in their settlements going in hand with deprival of their properties.

These embarrassing situations made them quit forests’ life and call upon remained refugee to return to their home to join others in the reconstruction of the nation.

While handing them medical insurance cards, Minister Mukantabana said that the country had nostalgia for them and wished their return to provide a hand in building the nation.

“You are no longer refugees, since you have crossed the border. You are Rwandans like others. We expect you to bring constructive ideas and feel comfortable in your native country.”She said

Minister Mukantabana asked repatriated Rwandans to keep themselves away from negative ideology knowing that everyone takes part in securing the country as well as building peace and development.

Major Gen Mubaraka Mugaganga, the Western Province army commandant urged repatriated Rwandans to profit opportunies accorded by media to voice their calls encouraging former neighbors to return in their native country since Rwanda is fully secured.
