Transfusion at PTS, where each donor donated at least 450 mil-litres of blood.
Lydie Uwera, from the National Centre for Blood Transfusion (NCBT), in charge of mobilization in Eastern region thanked the donors for the voluntary service to save lives.
“It is the first time in the past years we have received such a big turn up and I can’t thank these police officers for the voluntary act to save lives and to give patients another chance to live,” Uwera said shortly after the exercise.
This is the second time trainees at PTS have donated blood.
“In 2010, 128 police officers turned up for this humanitarian act and today, the turn up was more than double and I believe all Rwandans share and commend the spirit and love these trainees have showed today,” she added
She further expressed gratitude to PTS and Rwanda National Police in
general for organizing and inviting the NCBT.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Denis Basabose, the Commandant of PTS also lauded the students for the act adding that RNP remains committed to supporting health development in the country.

RNP also constructed 12 health centres in different parts of the country, and is currently scaling up Isange to all hospitals across the country.
Last year, RNP paid medical premiums for about 1500 vulnerable people across the country.
