The Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the United Nations Mission in the Republic of South Sudan – Integrated Mission Training Centre (UNMISS – IMTC) is conducting a two-week course on ‘Good Governance and Peace Building’ at the RDF Command and Staff College, Nyakinama from 4th March – 15th March 2013.

Amb. Fatuma Ndangiza, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) who opened the course officially on 4 March said that many problems lie in the failure to properly engage in early recovery and post conflict peace building tasks according to UN Missions analysis.

She reiterated Rwanda’s success stories; home grown solutions of post-conflict development that could be shared during this Training of Trainers (ToT).

“These initiatives have helped in addressing post conflict transitional justice, reconciliation, democratization, decentralization and grassroots mediation of local disputes”, observed Amb. Fatuma Ndangiza.

According to the Director of Rwanda Peace Academy, Col Jill Rutaremara this course is the 3rd of its kind that intends to build national capacity in order to prepare the South Sudanese nationals to effectively manage their national affairs when UNMISS leaves.
