Rwanda National Police Deploys 140 in Haiti

Rwanda National Police has deployed 140 peacekeeping officers in Haiti.

The contingent left yesterday shortly after the Inspector General of Police GP Emmanuel K Gasana addressed them.

The IGP asked the troops to maintain and uphold Rwandan values while in Haiti.

He emphasized how they should always maintain discipline. The contingent will serve under the UN Mission in Haiti is abbreviated as MINUSTAH. Rwanda has more than 469 Police Peacekeepers around the world.

Some are deployed in Haiti, Sudan, South Sudan, Ivory- Coast and Liberia. Some of the duties include crowd disposal, humanitarian activities, road rehabilitation among others.
