By looking on the production of 2011 and 2012, Rwanda has registered approximately US $ 358 million.
According to Caroline Kayonga of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Rwanda’s mining sector aims at making a profit of about $ 400 million in 2017.
The Ministry of Natural Resources is able to reach this goal if the Executive agrees to make it a priority.
Rwanda produces between 8,000 and 9,000 tons of minerals each year. Its main production is tin.
On a global scale, Rwanda is ranked 8th largest producer of molten tin, with a contribution of 1.5% of world production.
In addition to tin, the country has mineral reserves like gold, tantalum and tungsten.
