Rwanda May send Peacekeeping Troops to Mali

{{President Paul Kagame has said there is a possibility for Rwanda to contribute Peacekeeping troops to Mali.}}

“There is a possibility of sending troops to Mali. A request has already been made”, the President told reporters at a press conference held at Amahoro National Stadium.

Rwanda is the world’s sixth largest contributor of peacekeepers, maintaining more than 4000 military and police peacekeepers in different countries, including in Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

UN has also appointed a Rwandan- Maj. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura as Force Commander of a multi-nation peace keeping contingent in Mali.

Mali is suffering attacks staged by several armed groups, including Islamic extremists, who had taken over nearly three quarters of the country.
