Rwanda launches e-Recruitment system

Rwanda has launched new systems of recruiting employees and getting jobs through the technology known as E-Recruitment starting the Ministry of Public Service and Labor. The new system is among government’s plan to improve service delivery among government institutions.

The job applicant will be required to fill records in the E-Recruitment system which gives feedback whether the job seeker is shortlisted or not. Selected applicants will show identifications and documents at the day of job exams and bring them in case an applicant is given a job.

The Minister of Public Service and Labor, Judith Uwizeye has told IGIHE that the new system will help to recruit employees, evaluate identities and help employees to petition in case of any dissatisfaction.

“People apply for a job online which saves them transport costs to offices to submit files. Unlike in the past, the new system will be updating the applicant via email about the application,” she said.

“Corruption in job recruitments will be reduced. Those who would set requirements based on experiences of a person they favor will be avoided. Requirements will be available in the system where there is a post,” Uwzeye noted.

The information filled in the system will be shared at all government levels where an individual who already filled his records in the system will not fill again in case he/she wants to apply for a job elsewhere.

“Regarding job applicants who are not satisfied about the system which can disqualify their application, an individual has other alternatives of petitioning claiming .When the claim is not responded to on time, the system immediately sends the appeal to the commissioner in charge of public servants,” she said.
