Rwanda-Japan Develop Public-Private Partnership

Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and the Embassy of Japan in Rwanda are developing public-private partnership between Rwanda and SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in Japan.

Commending the role of SMEs in the development of their country, the outgoing Japanese Ambassador to Rwanda, Kunio Hatanaka proposed to benefit the Japanese Rwanda expertise.

“Our SMEs are ready to help Rwandans through partnerships based on shared knowledge, skills, techniques and technologies.” the outgoing Japanese diplomat said.

According to Ecofin, Japan has more than 4 million SMEs that account for 66% of jobs in the country.

Eusebe Muhirika, a top executive of the RDB welcomed this proposal enthusiastically explaining that Rwanda SMEs face difficulties in accessing international markets, finance, appropriate technology and skills.
