{A Workshop of the 2016 African Conference of Commandants (ACoC) is being conducted at Hotel Lemigo in Kigali. The workshop brings together Directing Staffs (DS) of African Defence Colleges and stands a technical organ of the ACoC. It was opened on 8 June 2016 by Col Justus Majyambere, Chief Instructor at the RDF Command and Staff College, on behalf of the Commandant, also the current Chair of the African Conference of Commandants, Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura.}
In his opening remarks, Col Majyambere said that the 2016 African Conference of Commandants will be held under the theme “Challenges of interoperability and future concepts of multinational operations”. The aim of of the Workshop will be to promote harmonisation, interoperability, commonality, standardisation and cooperation between African Colleges, as a significant contribution to African Standby Forces and Peace support Operations on the African continent.
“The African Conference of Commandants aims at enhancing military professionalism in Africa through education, training and development of officers in African Colleges”, Col Majyambere said.
Countries represented in the workshop are the Republics of Angola, Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda and Zambia. The three day workshop will be closed on 10 June 2016.
The African Conference of Commandants is a forum that brings together Commandants of Defence Colleges as well as training managers of defense forces from all over the continent with the aim of discussing ways of enhancing military professionalism in Africa, through education, training and development of officers in African Defence Colleges.
The Commandant of RDF Command and Staff College, Maj Gen Jean Bosco Kazura was unanimously elected by his peers as the Conference Chairman during the 2015 ACoC meeting in Lusaka Zambia. The 2016 ACoC meeting will be held in Kigali Rwanda in November 2016.
