Rwanda replaces Russia on that position and currently Rwanda is represented by Eugène-Richard Gasana.
The presidency of the Council is held by each of the members in turn for one month, following the English alphabetical order of the Member States names.
Rwanda has been elected non-permanent member of the Security Council for a term of two years from 1 January 2013 along with Argentina, Australia, South Korea and Luxembourg.
These five countries have replaced South Africa, Germany, Colombia, India and Portugal.
