{The Ministry of Sports and Culture (MINISPOC) has announced that Rwanda earned more than Rwf 200,000,000 from tickets that were sold at various stadiums and more other revenue sources earned by the business community. Rwanda invested Rwf 16 billion in preparations of CHAN including renovation of stadiums. }
In a press briefing held yesterday, the Minister of Sports and Culture ,Uwacu Julienne said that Rwanda is glad with how CHAN tournament was well held, the way guests were treated and the way Rwandans participated in watching matches at various stadiums.
CHAN was held from January 16th to February 7th, 2016.
Uwacu said that Rwanda reaped big from CHAN including new built infrastructures and renovated ones.
“We can’t really know the exact amount of money earned by the country during CHAN Since it is not easy to identify earnings of private investors. However total ticket sales from various stadiums at which the tournament was held earned Rwf 200 million,” she said.
