Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien Habumuremyi has said that Rwanda is determined to preventing genocide in Rwanda and elsewhere.
“The Government of Rwanda has a strong commitment to fighting genocide. Nothing will overcome our determination to prevent this heinous crime “he said.
He was speaking on December 18, 2012 at the International Conference on the 64th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
The Convention defines genocide as a crime committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.
This Convention was adopted in 1948 after the First World War and the genocide against the Jews. Its aim was to liberate mankind from such an odious scourge, and promote never again.
Unfortunately, the story was quickly repeated as if the man has learned nothing. “Other genocides were committed around the world including the genocide against the Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994.”Said Minister Habumuremyi
