OAFLA meeting was attended by first ladies of African Presidents.
Based on their experience with HIV/AIDS initiatives, the First Ladies agreed that HIV/AIDS can be used as an entry point to better serve the current needs of vulnerable populations.
Some of the key diseases mentioned that are of increasing concern in Africa today are obesity, cancer and diabetes.
The First Lady of Rwanda Jeannette Kagame is now actively working with the government as a matter of national priority to eliminate mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS.
Mrs. Kagame will also focus on adolescent reproductive health and education as key elements of HIV/AIDS prevention.
