Rwanda central bank holds its key repo rate at 6.5 pct

(Reuters) – {Rwanda’s central bank held its key repo rate at 6.5 percent on Tuesday, Governor John Rwangombwa said, adding that inflation was expected to be capped at 2 percent by year-end and 2.5 percent by end of March 2015.}

Rwanda’s urban inflation, which Rwanda tracks for monetary policy purposes, rose to 0.7 percent in the year to November from 0.5 percent a month before.

“The Monetary Policy Committee has decided to keep the key repo rate unchanged … for the first quarter 2015 with the objective of continuing to support the economicfinancing,” Rwangombwa told a news conference.
