Rwanda Business Week in Bujumbura Successful

{{Despite the far from ideal weather conditions, the 36 Rwandan companies that participated have hailed Rwanda Business Week, an exhibition event which took place from 22nd to 25th March in Bujumbura, as a resounding success. }}

It was also welcomed by many of the local visitors as the basis for increased cooperation between the two country’s private sectors.

Jointly organized by the Rwanda Development Board and Rwanda’s Embassy in Bujumbura, Rwanda Business Week was designed to develop and strengthen business partnerships between Rwandan and Burundi businesses to increase the volume and value of trade.

RDB’s Eusebe Muhikira, HOD Trade and Manufacturing on the closing of Rwanda Business Week said, “It takes a lot of hard work to organize s an event such as Rwanda Business Week and I would like to thank everybody from both countries for their enthusiasm in making things work so well. We hope this collaboration will contribute greatly to our economic aspiration to boost exports into the region.”

In the ‘tented village’ that was created at the Musée Vivant, the stands looked bright and colorful which indeed attracted many curious visitors to the Rwandan stands.

The stands included companies such as BRALIRWA, which provided refreshments for visitors, Inyange Industries, Kinazi Cassava Plant, among others whose products proved to be very popular.

In addition to that, exhibitors did not only sell all the products, they also identified promising business partners in Burundi with whom to further develop their businesses. “The market is totally promising and very open to Rwandan products.

Burundian businesses are keen to work with Rwandan Businesses. The fair was very popular and they didn’t want it to end.” noted Jessie Kalisa Umutoni, one of the exhibitors and CEO of Chalk Maker G-Mart.

Rwanda Business Week was marked by various activities such the exhibition, business meetings and a concert in which great singer King James, Burundi drummers and Rwanda dancers performed and entertained the fair visitors.

A survey will be carried out by RDB to assess the impact of the Rwanda Business Week event and base on that to develop an action plan on how to increase exports in Africa and beyond through such events.
