Recent elections have been preceded by dismissed vote of Me Nduwamungu Jean Vianney over the high court’s claim of lacking transparency.

The vote of Me Kavaruganda brought mistrust among lawyers over his sole application adding to exclusion of journalists in the process of elections.

Disseminated information confirms that some lawyers had applied for election but didn’t get confirmation because they have been requested to present extra documents.

A member of Rwanda Bar Association told journalists that it was surprising to have one candidate among many applications submitted competing for the post. He added that denying media access to follow up elections is questionable.

“We are leading persons in the awareness of laws. It is amazes me to have lawyers among top law disobedient people. Journalists have rights to investigate elections process and access information. There is probably a reason behind this case.”Said another lawyer criticizing denial of media access.

Me Kavaruganda elected to head RBA told the media that he had no rights to participate in journalists’ exclusion adding that he is going to improve achievements as well as maintaining a good relationship with the media.

“As a candidate, I am not leading the committee. I am considered a candidate without access to decision making .I like powerful media and expect improved collaboration.” He said.

Me Kavaruganda Julien elected to head Rwanda Bar Association is a son of Kavaruganda Joseph who had been the president of Supreme Court before he was killed in Genocide.
