A major bridge at Rusumo will be reconstructed at a cost of Frw 1.5Billion all funded by JICA.
The bridge measures 80m long and 10.5m wide.
According to the Ministry of East African Community, the Bridge will have enough sidewalks of 1.5 m on both sides and traffic congestion will be solved.
The construction has 3 phases: Bridge, 2 km road between 2 borders and putting up OSBP facilities.
The Bridge will afford weight not exceeding 180 tons.
According to the Minister, the Minister in charge of East African Community Affairs said once the bridged is completed, it will ease transportation of commodities between Rwanda and Tanzania.
