{Mbarubukeye Jean Bosco aged 43, residing in Ruhango district, is suspected of having strangled his wife, Gahongayire Evelyne, 41, to death after making merry together during the Christmas day, an incident that occurred as they were headed back to their home. }
The spokesperson of Police in Southern Province, Chief Superintendent Hubert Gashagaza, told IGIHE that the suspect is detained at Ruhango police station.
It is said that the couple have been involved in incessant wrangles and their appearance together was a hoodwink to make residents believe that all was well back home.
“The suspect wanted to marry another wife, an idea Gahongayire refuted. Mbarubukeye accepts to have killed his wife by strangulating her,” said Gashagaza, adding it was the only shocking incident during the Christmas night in Southern province.
He advised citizens to be involved in security look-out to ensure a peaceful festive season and transition to the New Year.
“We request citizens to report, in time, all those households that are seen to be having domestic wrangles to local leaders, police and resolve others through the mediation of Akagoroba k’ababyeyi and report to police when negotiations fail,” said Gashagaza.
Mbarubukeye and her wife Gahongayire brought forth seven children with the eldest being 20 while two are deceased.
