Ruhango Compassion International staff impersonator arrested

Police spokesperson in Southern Province, CIP Bonaventure Karekezi has said that Karake was arrested on information provided by residents.

β€œThe man told residents that he works for a project registering children between 7 and 23 years old to get free school fees for primary, secondary and university education. He promised the support on condition that every targeted household to benefit from the funding had to pay Rwf 300,000. Residents alerted the police leading to his arrest,” he said.

CIP Karekezi said that Karake was found with three identifications featuring his picture with different names as well as forged forms he used to cheat residents that children are approved beneficiaries of Compassion International.

He appealed on residents to be mindful to detect swindlers promising them support or other services unknown by grassroots leadership.

Karake has been handed to Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) station in Kinazi to be investigated.
