Rubavu driver dies in car crash

{A driver yesterday died in car accident when Daihatsu trademark from Northern Province to Rubavu town and Taxi Minibus heading for Northern Province had a head-on collision near Gisenyi Hospital in Amahoro cell of Gisenyi sector around 19:00 hours.}

Talking to IGIHE, Hakizimana Aimé, the driver of Taxi Minibus said that they saw the Daihatsu on the road on fire and stopped to rescue passengers but both cars caught fire.
“The Daihatsu truck might have experienced brake failure and then caught with fire. It hit our car but no one of us was injured but the car has been completely destroyed by fire,” he said.

The police spokesperson in Western Province, Chief Inspector of Police Kanamugire Theobald said that the cause of the accident remains unknown.

“The incident took place on a sloppy road when a truck carrying bunches of banana when it lost control. The driver of Daihatsu died on spot. We are investigating to establish the cause of the incident,” he said.
