Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Celestin Twahirwa said that musical shows, family and religious celebrations as well as movement of people were “conducted in accordance with the law and safely without any disturbance.”
“There were few minor incidents like simple car crash, assault, drug abuse where in some cases resulted into arrests, but these crimes were not related to the festivities and did not disturb people’s celebrations,” ACP Twahirwa said.
“We thank the public for the spirit and partnership with police during these holidays, which was outstanding for the required level of security,” he added
“Ensuring security is the responsibility of everyone while respecting the law, refraining from any wrongdoing and providing timely information on any likely security threat for immediate intervention or prevention; this kind of partnership and respect of other people’s rights have played an important part in the current level of safety and security Rwanda enjoys.
