Religious groups and different churches working in Nyarugenge district met on Sunday at Nyamirambo Stadium in efforts against Drug Abuse in society.
Bishop Innocent Nzeyimana noted that religious groups will embark on preaching against Drug Abuse.
Bishop Nzeyimana added,”The program we have is to totally eradicate drug abuse,in order to avoid crimes resulting from the use of drugs.”
He also added that money spent on youth taken to Iwawa for re-education should be invested in other things, if every one cooperates in fighting against drugs abuse.
In 2012, within 10 sectors of Nyarugenge district, 276 people were arrested in connection with drug abuse.
The vice mayor of Nyarugenge district in charge of social affairs Pierre Karisa, said that kimisagara sector ranked top in drug abuse in 2012,56 culprits were arrested in Kimisagara alone, 41 drug users seized in Rwezamenyo sector among others.
