Reasons why Rwandan Senators lost Trust in Dr. Ntawukuliryayo

{An unexpected resignation of the President of the Rwandan Senate, Dr. Jean Damascene Ntawukuriryayo has surprised many Rwandans after a session of the Senate on Wednesday 17 September voted to allow him to leave his seat as the President and join the rank of ordinary senators.}

Announcing his resignation, Ntawukuliryayo said he will remain a senator leaving the Interim Presidency to Bernard Makuza.

Why Ntawukuliryayo resigned?

A confirmed report of a petition from 15 of the 26 states seven counts against Ntawukuliryayo.

He was accused of mismanagement of Senate Budget including using senate money in his personal affairs including receiving his guests.

Peers accuse him of taking advantages of Senate property to equip his official residence.

He also used the diktat of the other officers of the Senate and the Chairmen of Senate Committees, creating an atmosphere of lack of open collaboration in the office, which was reflected in all instances of the Senate, said a source close to the house.

His peers also accused him of illegal recruitment of agents for certain positions of the Senate.

Ntawukuriryayo has lost the confidence of his peers and he quickly realized that he must act out accordingly and IGIHE learned that he was advised to leave the post unless he can face more problems.

The Senate is currently managed by the Vice President of the Senate until the Senators elect a new one.
