{{The Rwanda Defence Foce (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff, Lt Gen Charles Kayonga urged the Commanders at tactical level who completed Company and Platoon Commanders Courses, yesterday to lead by example the soldiers under their command.}}
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) said this in the closing ceremony of the Courses attended by 77 Officers from RDF and 20 from Armed Forces of Liberia.
“You have immediate responsibility of developing good soldiers but above all, you will lead by example with professionalism and skills, you will be guided by RDF values: honour, valour, patriotism, loyalty, service to the nation. You must live the RDF values”, emphasized the RDF CDS.
He reminded the officers that they have the responsibility of influencing and that they have a challenge of mentoring the soldiers under their command, “a challenge of mentoring our soldiers, the best they can be because of the purpose: securing our Country”.
He reiterated that the Platoon and Company Commanders are of tactical importance but with strategic importance. “It’s our responsibility to develop an excellent Army”, he concluded.
Lt Hayes, Alvin Luther from Liberia, one the best three performer students who completed successful the Platoon Commanders Course in Rwanda Military Academy-Gako told the media that what he learnt in Rwanda Military Academy will help a lot in his professional carrier.
“My coming here in Rwanda is like an eye opener. “ I gained the experience that will help me into my professional career”. He added though that the weather and ground train was very challenging.
The Company and Platoon Commanders Courses that were closed officially by the Chief of Defence Staff in Rwanda Military Academy Gako lasted for 16 weeks.
