{Public transport buses from Eastern Province have been prohibited to enter Kigali city as a way of reducing traffic jam and accidents.}

The program started going into force yesterday in Nyanza Taxi Park of Kicukiro district.

Following the decision buses heading for Nyamata and other parts of Bugesera district no longer park at Nyabugogo or Remera but in Nyanza park.

Reuben Ahimbisibwe, the director-general of infrastructure at the City of Kigali has said that the program aims at avoiding traffic jam and reducing accidents inside Kigali city.

He explained that the plan is under the program of improving public transport where buses from countryside have to stop at the outskirts of the city.

It is expected that other buses from other parts Eastern Province will stop in Kabuga Taxi Park where passengers will take other shuttles to the city or going to other regions of Eastern Province.

Reuben explained that buses from Western and Northern and Southern parts of the country will still arrive in Nyabugogo Taxi Park.
