{Rwanda state prosecutor has sought ‘solitary confinement’ against former Justice Minister during genocide, Agnes Ntamabyariro, APA has learned from a judicial source in Kigali.}
It said state prosecutor’s request on Monday for a life sentence came after the former minister who is accused for financing the assassination of the Tutsi Governor of Butare, southern Rwanda, Jean Baptiste Habyarimana, has initially appealed against the sentence.
According to reports, Ntamabyariro who is the sole member of the regime during the genocide to be tried in Rwanda, was arrested in Zambia in 1997, before her trial began in late June 2006.
She is especially accused of various crimes, including incitement to commit genocide, criminal conspiracies and complicity in murders.
Born in Eastern Rwanda, the former minister appeared before the Tanzanian-based International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in 2006 in defence of another minister from the interim government.
Mrs Ntamabyariro is also prosecuted for planning the genocide, organization meetings of the genocide in Nyanza (southern Rwanda) and Kibuye (western Rwanda).
