{{The Sweet Potato Action for Security and Health in Africa (SASHA), in conjunction with RAB, KIST and CRS have launched a project aiming at using sweet potatoes in production of cakes, juice, etc.}}
The project was launched in the Northern part of Rwanda.
A big Part of Rwanda’s soil is sweet potatoes friendly.
The Director General of SASHA, Dr. Jan Low said that production of sweet potatoes can generate up to $ 90 Million if the crop are taken into consideration.
Karake Ferdinand in charge of Good governance in Northern Province said the province will carryout more cultivation of sweet potatoes noting that currently the province is going to support Rulindo District to prepare 50 Hectares for the crop.
Besides cultivation of the sweet potatoes, SASHA has been training farmers to bake sweet potato doughnuts from their produce as a form of value addition.
One of the farmers Muhayimana Margarette hailed sweet potato varieties noting that she is no longer lack money since she invested in the cultivation of such crop.
