President Paul Kagame has received Peter Krämer, the leader of Marine Service Group from German, and co-founder of Schools for Africa initiative aimed at promoting education on African continent through the United Nations Children Education Fund (UNICEF).
Through UNICEF, Schools for Africa has aided Rwanda USD 134.5 million allocated to the education sector.
After holding talks yesterday, Peter Krämer commended president Kagame for efforts in promoting education among Rwandans.
Talking to the media Peter Krämer said; “We have concentrated on education since School for Africa means education ,primary school and kindergarten schools. I put much emphasis on good secondary schools, since when you have children attending schools at 97% ,they need to climb the academic ladder other than suspending studies after completing primary education.”
Peter Krämer, 64, is one of the top sponsors of UNICEF through Peter Krämer Foundation.”
The Minister of State in Charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Olivier Rwamukwaya said that since 2008, UNICEF Rwanda has received more than USD 13.5 million to support Rwanda’s education sector including the establishment of Early Child Development Centers.
“10 Early Child Development Centers have been already established in various districts, 7 model nursery schools and UNICEF as accepted to build over 100 model nursery schools,” he said.
