{President Kagame today received the outgoing Burundi Ambassador to Rwanda, Remy Sinkazi, who concludes his tour of duty after representing his country in Rwanda for four years and eight months. The Ambassador called on President Kagame to bid him farewell.}
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Burundi Ambassador said he was happy that he found existing good relations between Burundi and Rwanda when he was appointed to represent Burundi at the beginning of 2010 and that he had left when the relations were even better.
“There were outstanding bilateral issues that needed to be worked out and I am happy to say that as I conclude my time in Rwanda, issues like payment of pension dues for Rwandans who worked for the Burundi civil service and other entities have been implemented and others are in process. The issue of border demarcations are on going smoothly, and where the are inconsistencies resulting from matters beyond our control, like where rivers that keep changing course from this territory to the other, these are dealt with accordingly.”
Ambassador Sinkazi said Burundi was not as active as it should be in the East African Community, but said the country had requested to be given six months to organize before coming back strongly to participate at the same level with everyone else.
