{President Paul Kagame has been conferred an honorary doctor of laws by the Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia where he and first lady, Jeannette Kagame, attended the graduation ceremony.}
He becomes the first sitting president to receive the honorary doctor of laws from University of Bahir.
President Kagame has been received by his counterpart Ethiopian president, Mulatu Teshome with the foreign minister Tedros Adhanom.
The honorary degree has been conferred to Kagame as recognition of his role in stopping 1994 genocide, championing the empowerment of women and ensuring sustainable development for all Rwandans.
President Tahoma said that it is of great value to receive President Kagame at the graduation ceremony of Bahir Dar University and described it as a symbol of good bilateral cooperation.
Bahir Dar University is comprised of two merged higher learning institutions.
Rwanda and Ethiopia have a good cooperation especially in business sector where both countries signed trade improvement agreements in 2013.
