President Kagame mourns Bishop Halem’mana

{President Kagame has mourned the death of Bishop Barnabas R. Halem’mana of Kabale diocese in Uganda.}

Through his twitter account, president Kagame said: “Sadly learnt of the passing of Bishop Barnabas Halem’mana. He championed justice and equality for all, also was a courageous man! His soul rest in peace.”

Bishop Barnabas was born in 1929 in Uganda and passed away on 3rd January; 2016. He was buried on 5th January 2016.

He became a priest on 7th December 1958 and appointed the Bishop of Kabale diocese on 31st July in 1969 when Pope Paul VI visited Uganda in 1969. He served in different capacities in the catholic church before being ordained Bishop.

The late prelate retired from active Episcopal services on 15th July 1994 after 25 years of leading the diocese. He is among Bishops who in 1982 attended the official launch of Ndera junior seminary located in Kigali archidiocese.
