President Paul Kagame and first lady, Jeannette have been today received in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania by President John Pombe Magufuli, his host.
The visit was preceded by the ceremony of signing bilateral cooperation agreement by both countries’ ministers of foreign affairs, Louise Mushikiwabo and Dr Augustine Mahiga.
President Magufuli delighted with the visit said that Rwanda and Tanzania are best friends.
He lauded President Paul Kagame for visiting Tanzania as Rwanda celebrated the 54th Independence Day. “Today is Rwanda’s Independence Day and president Kagame has come to show new Independence in our country, “said Magufuli.
In a short press briefing, president Magufuli promised Kagame to do everything possible to increase the exploitation of Dar es Salaam port.
More than 70% of merchandises brought to Rwanda pass through Dar es Salaam port.
President Kagame said that Tanzania and Rwanda have a good cooperation rooted on mutual respect.
“Rwanda is a great friend of us. We have pledged to do everything possible to implement transport infrastructure projects on time,” he said.
President Magufulu said that they have allocated a part of this year’s budget to build a road from Tanzania to Kigali.
President Kagame has said that Rwanda is glad for its cooperation with Tanzania unveiling willingness to implement common projects for both countries.
“We are waiting to move fast in the implementation of the railway other than remaining in our dreams. We will continue to strengthen our long term cooperation to advance our progress and citizens’ capacity,” he said.
