President Kagame hosts Director of Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Africa

Dr. Jean Kaseya assumed the role of Director of Africa CDC during the 36th General Assembly of the African Union on February 19, 2023.

He succeeded Dr. John Nkengasong from the Democratic Republic of Congo and is set to serve a four-year term in this capacity.

Rwanda has already taken delivery of the initial shipment of six ‘BioTainers,’ which will be utilized to construct a facility dedicated to producing mRNA-based vaccines for Covid-19, Malaria, and tuberculosis.

This manufacturing facility will be situated within the Kigali Special Economic Zone, in the Masoro area of Gasabo District.

Rwanda was one of the first African nations chosen to host such a facility, and it is anticipated that this initiative will significantly bolster vaccine production on the African continent.

President Paul Kagame received Mr. Jean Kaseya at Urugwiro Village.
