
{President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeannette Kagame are in Ethiopia for the 18th Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Meeting which starts on Monday.}
For a week African leaders including their Excellencies Haliemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda and Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya’s President will meet in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, on the occasion of a conference.
They will be joined by several African presidents who will attend the annual meeting of COMESA and who plan to extend their stay to attend the Conference of Ministers held as part of the annual ministerial meeting of the Economic Commission for Africa Union.
The 19-member regional bloc aims to achieve sustainable economic and social progress through increased co-operation and integration in all fields of development particularly in trade, customs and monetary affairs but still facing some challenges to implement the essential agreements on these issues.
The nineteen countries of COMESA are: Burundi, Comoros, D.R. Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Rwanda, Seychelles, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The last meeting of African head of states was during the 17th summit held in Kinshasa in February 2014.
