{{Police in Nyarugenge has recovered 103 handsets stolen recently after thieves broke into one of the phone shops in the city centre}}.
The handsets are part of the 601 valued at Rwf15 million, stolen from Samsung Keza Phone located in Kiyovu cell of Nyarugenge sector.
Also recovered are Rwf242, 000, which the thieves had raised after selling the stolen phones.
Police also arrested three people in connection with the burglary.
The suspects are identified as Michel Havugimana, Théophile Kamatari,Pascal and one Mbonigaba.
They were arrested in Kigali following a tip-off from the members of the public.
The suspects, on August 23, purportedly broke into Samsung Keza Phone at night and stole the handsets.
The owner of the shop, Jean Manirarora thanked Rwanda National Police for its efforts in recovering his stolen goods and to arrest the thugs.
The Central Region Police Spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Urbain Mwiseneza, thanked the public for their continued cooperation to fight and prevent crimes and to denounce wrongdoers.
He appealed to the business community to put in place tight measures such as employing trusted people and installing CCTV cameras in their shops, to ensure safety of their goods.
Once found guilty, the suspects will face six to two years imprisonment and a fine of two to five times the value of the stolen property or one of these penalties as stipulated under to article 300 of the penal code.
