Police FC has punished Marines FC 6-0 to stretch their lead at the top of the Primus National Football League standings.
The game was played on Tuesday at Kicukiro stadium. Striker Ernest Kwizera and Meddie Kagere secured a brace each while Peter Kagabo scored his ninth goal of the season and Jack Tuyisenge also registering his name on the score sheet with a clean strike.
Striker Kwizera connected Kagere’s delivery in the 16th minute of the game to give Police FC an early 1-0 lead over Marines.
Police FC grabbed the second goal after a minute with a brilliant goal scored by Kagere.
The ex-skipper made it three with another clean sheet on 20th minute to effectively launch his return to Rwandan football in style. Kagere has now scored three goals in two matches played in the second round.
After resumption, Police proved to be the stronger side and took the lead in the 53rd minute, a goal scored by striker Kwizera to give Police FC a 4-0 lead.
Kagabo got himself on the score sheet with sharp drive on 58th minute before wasting several clear chances as the game winded out but Tuyisenge ensured a 6-0 win with a superb goal on 0th minute.
This was a sweet revenge for Police FC who was denied the league title with two matches to the end of last season by the same side in Rubavu when they conceded 0-1 loss to give APR an upper hand in lifting the title.
With this result, Police FC is on top of the league with 32 points, six points clear of rivals Rayon Sport and SC Kiyovu who are tied on second position but separated on goal differences.
The Primus League continues on Wednesday with relegation battling side Etincelles hosting Musanze at Umuganda stadium as Isonga plays host to Espoir at Kicukiro turf.
SC Kiyovu takes on Amagaju at Mumena turf; AS Kigali face Rayon Sport away in Muhanga; Mukura hosts La Jeunesse at Kamena while defending champions APR take on AS Muhanga at Stade de Kigali.
