Police Detains 2 Suspects over Theft of Health Center Funds

{{Two suspects are being held in connection with theft of over Frw57Million belonging to Muhoza Health center in Musanze District.}}

The suspects have been identified as Kalinda Mugisha and Murwanashyaka Fabrice currently detained at Muhoza police station.

Police reports indicate that the suspects had secretly opened an account with FINA bank where they had deposited over Frw40Million.

One of the suspects Murwanashyaka was working as an accountant at the Muhoza health center while Kalinda was in charge of Insurance at the same health center.

Jose Nyirakabanza the director at Muhoza health center said, the suspects had illegally opened a new account at FIna Bank where they deposited swindled funds.

The health center only has an account with Bank of Kigali.

The health center management learnt of the stolen funds after carryingout an independent audit and found the accountant had provided wrong information which triggered suspicion leading to their apprehension.

Kalinda who was incharge of Health Insurance at the center allegedly deopisted insurance funds to the Fina Bank account instead of the Health centers only account at Bank of Kigali.

Police told IGIHE that the suspects have admitted to commiting the crime
CS Francis Gahima the Police Spokesperson in Northern Province confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and thanked vigilance of citizens in providing timely information that led to apprehension of the suspects.
