Police Arrests Drug Dealers

Police has arrested six suspects found in possession with illicit brew and drugs in Eastern Province.

Three suspects have been identified as; Jean de Dieu Nsengiyumva [37], Jean Paul Surwumwe [31] and Gilbert Habimana aged 30 were arrested in Murundi Sector, Kayonza District with 40 litres of illicit brew known as Kanyanga.

They were arrested while crossing Akagera national park and they are reported to have been coming from neighboring country Tanzania. They are currently held at Rukara Police Station.

In Kibungo sector, Ngoma district, Moise Ndayishimiye [23] and his wife Agatha Uwimana [22] were also caught with 10.5 kgs of cannabis and15 litres of Kanyanga.

They are held at with their exhibits at Kibungo Police Station.

Another suspect identified Albert Ntakirutimana [24] is also in Kibungo Police station custody in Kibungo Sector, Ngoma District after being caught by local leaders with 5kgs of cannabis.

The Eastern Region Police Spokesman, Superintendent Benoit Nsengiyumva confirmed the development saying that Police will not tolerate any person who is involved in such criminal acts.

He emphasized on the need for the public to share timely information with security organs and continued reporting of such drug dealers.

Supt. Nsengiyumva called upon citizens to engage in legitimate income generating activities and stop indulging in drugs that would lead them into trouble.
