The statement was made by Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi today 02 April while opening the 100 Resilient Cities Program-Agenda Setting Workshop in Hotel des Mille Collines in Kigali.
“100 Resilient Cities Program” that was pioneered by Rockfeller Foundation aims at helping cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21th century.
The Premier pointed out that the workshop is a good opportunity for the City of Kigali to improve its existing resilience efforts as well as a good forum to bring together key partners of the City of Kigali and its stakeholders in consolidating and building more urban resilience for Kigali City.
“The Government of Rwanda considers Kigali membership to the 100 Resilient Cities Program as an opportunity to demonstrate its ability and capacity to uplift resilience not only locally but both nationally and internationally, and therefore supports all efforts in strengthening resilience”. Said the Premier.
The City of Kigali was selected to be among the 100 Resilient cities due to its longstanding commitment to implement solutions that increase community’s capacities to prepare for, withstand and bounce back from shock and stresses.
