{Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi has requested Rwanda Revenue Authority to exempt the timber from the Democratic Republic of Congo from the entrance tax.}
The call comes at the time Rwanda is facing the high demand of timber for construction activies.
The Prime Minister made the remarks while in a visit in Gahanga Sector of Kicuro District where he toured a production centre on 25th Oct. 2014.
Artisans complained of competition from imported materials and suggested that products manufactured locally be distributed in all parts of the country which will reduce imports of the same products from abroad
The Prime Minister recommended the timber industry to prove Rwandan quality of its products on the domestic market which will discourage these imports.
