Parliamentary Polls: Green Party targets ten seats

Speaking to IGIHE, the Party President, Dr Frank Habineza said that they are continuing with electing flag bearers ahead of the September ballot.

“Preparations are in high gear; since October last year, we have been going around all districts conducting meetings as well as electing our flag bearers,” he said.

He said that their manifesto will be announced in the party’s general assembly that will take place on June 23rd. In the assembly, they will also announce final list of candidates that will be sent to the National Electoral Commission (NEC).

Habineza says that the party is optimistic that they will get 20% of seats in the Lower House.

“At least 20% seats, means ten MPs. We have got experience from presidential elections we participated in last year,” he said.

He said that they will earn votes from the electorate given their commitment to combating poverty, providing Justice for all and tackling effects of climate change and environment destruction.

Elections are slated for September 2nd to Rwandans in the diaspora while for those in the country will vote on September 3rd.
