The school which was established in 1998 is located at Rutonde Sector, in Rwamagana District.

The requests to admit more students at the school stem from the great performance by the school since its establishment with only Ordinary Level (Tronc Commun).
A 2011-2012 Report by school inspectors had recommended for the closure of the school due lacking of basic facilities especially dormitories for accommodation of students.
However, since then, parents pooled resources and constructed three blocks for accommodation of students but non has been admitted to occupy the new facilities.
In a letter referenced 2762/05.01/01 from the Ministry of Education seen by IGIHE, it is stated that the school lacks accommodation facilities and that the school lacks enough land for expansion.
The school management and parents do not agree with statements in the letter saying they have already constructed enough dormitories and that the distict authorities are satisfied with the new facilities at the school.
