The monitoring was launched following a meeting that brought together different faith organizations and Rwanda Governance Board (RGB).

In Gasabo District alone, 369 churhes have been monitored and 129 among them were closed whereas in Nyarugenge District 111 churches were monitored and 74 among them were closed over poor hygiene.

Speaking to IGIHE, the Churches Union representative in Gasabo District, Rev. Pastor Erneste Ruyenzi said that the exercise is going on and numbers are likely to increase.
