{Over 20 drivers are expected to participate in the upcoming 32th edition of ’Rally des Milles Collines’ that will take place on 11th and 12th December, 2015 in Nyamata sector of Bugesera district.}
Participants will come from Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda.
It is expected that some roads will be closed and fans will have particular points from which they will watch the race.
Serge Rusagara, one of the organizers, says the new arrangement will help to reduce accidents that would arise from crowds of fans that sometimes throng the roadsides.
“Normally, fans would choose their vantage points, but to ensure their safety, we have organized specific viewpoints from where fans will watch the race,” he said.
It is expected that the championship will be held during day and night hours on the first day, starting with trip from ’Golden Tulip Hotel’ located in Nyamata sector to Rilima, a distance of 92.62 kilometers.
On the second day participants of the competition will pass through Nyagihunika, Kamabuye and Rilima. They will go through these locations for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds covering 146.13 km.
Golden Tulip Hotel as the main sponsor of the rally will provide Rwf 6 million and provide accommodation to 40 participants for five days.
Other sponsors of the rally include; ISPA, Coca Cola, SP, Rwandair, Printex, Akagera, Tigo, Victoria International, DY Solutions, Sulfo, Volcanoes, Rwanda Motors, Quincallerie Polimec, Prime Service, Hydrobatel, X Lent, CS Graphic, EtsVerma, RGL and Smart Fleet .
