Oshen-King Faysal and Spanish Hospital partner in pediatric telemedicine

Telemedicine helps to reduce physician shortage globally allowing patients to access specialists from the International medical networks. Through the cooperation, HSJD will support the development of subspecialties and the standardization of clinical practice particularly in areas still lacking subspecialized skills.

The agreement between the two hospitals is aimed at improving clinical management of pediatric services in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with critical conditions.

Through this partnership, HSJD will contribute to the improvement of management of specialized clinical services in Oshen- King Faysal Hospital (KFH) and HSJD will develop specialized capacity, focusing on teaching and research in its support strategy of improving quality for pediatrics in Rwanda.

The Director of Maternal, Child and Women at Oshen- KFH, Dr. Edgar Kalimba explains that through the establishment of a teleconsulting channel, the specialists of both the tertiary academic institutions will discuss clinical issues under subspecialties including gastroenterology, pathology, neurology, pulmonology, cardiac surgery, nephrology, rheumatology, infectious diseases and critical care among others.

The collaboration agreement between both hospitals is another step of Oshen-King Faysal Hospital strategy to be a leading medical entity in delivering high quality medical care in the region.

In April 2016, Oshen Health Care Rwanda Ltd, a branch of Oshen Group, an Angolan firm, signed a €21 million investment deal with government of Rwanda to upgrade referral King Faysal Hospital to international standards.
