Heavy storms have ravaged six houses in Kagunga and Kamabuye villages, Ntyazo sector in Nyanza district, with roofs blown off and walls razed down.
The victims whose houses have been destroyed have sought refuge among neighbors and requested for aid since they do not have enough finances to rebuild the destroyed houses.
“I am accommodated by neighbors. I have no financial means to rebuild or buy 25 tiles to roof my house. I would try my best to get other materials if I get government’s support to get tiles,”
Leaders of Ntyazo sector said that they are seeking ways of helping the victims through community work.
The acting executive secretary of Ntyazo sector, Ngirinama David said; “We have sought where they can be settled temporarily. Neighbors have accommodated them and we are seeking how to find aid.”
Ntyazo local leaders have advised residents to plant trees as an effort to avoid reoccurrence of similar disasters.
